4×4 option won't let me past 39 mph

Asked by 2015GMC2500HD Jun 29, 2018 at 06:33 PM about the 2015 GMC Sierra 2500HD SLE Crew Cab LB 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When I put my recently bought used truck in 4×4
low today it would not go past 39 mph. Why? Does
low stand for the speed? I thought it was referring
to the terrain.

1 Answer

4 Low means a much lower gear ratio which would limit your speed. It is also possible that Chevy programmed in a limit to keep you from damaging the drive train or over reving the engine.
