Door ajar chime

Asked by kikker821 Jul 10, 2014 at 06:33 PM about the 2014 Hyundai Elantra Limited FWD

Question type: General

Does the 2014 Elantra Limited have a door ajar chime when you open the door?  I've only had my car two days - I don't remember it chiming every time I opened the door the first day, but it's doing it today!

I bought a 2014 Elantra in January. I know the door agar chime didn't go off for the first 3 months I had the car but now it does. The dealer is telling me that it always does. I probably just didn't notice it at first. It is annoying enough I am sure I would have noticed it from the start.

I just bought an elantra limited 2015, i ve had it for 3 days and today I noticed also that when switch is set to off and you open the door the chime goes off, it might be a design intent because it is very consistent and it only does it when the switch is set to off not in ACC or RUN.

I have a 2014 Elantra Limited that had the same issue... Just open and close sunroof and it is fixed :)

I have a 2010 Elantra and this started about a week ago. Then I noticed my fob would work on the locks and truck. I believe that when the key is in the ignition the door will chime when open and the fob will not work. I figured there was a problem with the ignition switch not recognizing the key being removed. I sprayed it with a little WD-40, cycled the key on and off a couple times and there was a real click when i removed it and the chime did not sound. The fob also worked. Been going OK for a couple days now. Think it just may be a sticky ignition switch.

Paul's answer from six years ago worked for me. Just opened and closed the sun roof and the door chime stopped. Thanks, Paul. It was driving me crazy.

Thank you Paul. The sunroof must have been slightly opened accidentally. Opening and closing the sunroof make the chime go away.
