ABS brake motor running

i just bought my Jimmy, and the ABS light was on on the dash, so I tried cleaning the sensors, and noticed the brake controller was unplugged.  When I plugged it in, the motor runs and doesn't stop.  Where do I start to find the problem, or is it most likely the controller that must be replaced?
