2000 GMC Jimmy SLS 2 DOOR

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Was driving just fine. Turned the corner to my
house died 50 feet from driveway. Pushed it into
the driveway. Turn the key off then on because the
fuel pump was making a high pitched whining
sound and sure enough there was no longer a
sound at all.. ( had same problem with 99 S10.) I
changed the fuel pump and it still doesn't work.
Anyone have any answers?? Please Help..

Battery has a full charge and connections all good? Did you check voltage and ground at the pump? Gray wire is voltage, black wire is ground, check them both, you can use a test light to check, engine cranking. You can do some testing at fuel pump relay, unplug relay, use jumper wire between the two terminals on load side of relay, terminals 30 and 87, the pump should run, don't need the key. Terminal 30 is hot all the time and fuse protected. Engine cranking you have spark at the plugs and fuel injector pulse? Any applicable trouble codes?
