I would like to convert my 4wd sonoma to 2wd but it sounds like it isn't easy

I have a 2002 GMC Sonoma crew cab that I have thought of converting the
4wd to 2wd and swapping the fleet side box to a step side

It's probably harder than you could imagine. Lets start with the easier part and work deeper into it. 1. transmission and driveshaft. You will have to replace the 4wd trans and transfer case with a 2wd unit and the driveshaft from the 2wd truck. 2. Remove the front differential and the entire front suspension. The 4wd truck used torsion bar suspension, and hub and bearing assembly for the drive axles. The 2wd truck uses coil springs, and a traditional style spindle. You would probably be better off trading your more desirable 4wd truck for a clean 2wd unit.
