2002 Gmc Envoy

Asked by Michael Oct 12, 2017 at 10:12 PM about the 2002 GMC Envoy 4 Dr SLT 4WD SUV

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I recently went to look at an 02 gmc  Envoy. It was
a repo. It had a flat so I couldn't test drive it right
then. I did notice a vibration in the steering wheel
when I started it up. I then noticed the engine was
a slight bit jumpy on the drivers side front grill
corner. I've dealt with a broken mount in a Pontiac
grand prix. It seemed kind of the same thing. The
gal then told me when she drove it from the town
the repo occurred in it was shaking, but when she
got on the high way it evened out. I've never heard
of this before. I don't wanna spend money on this
vehicle and be burnt after I leave. Does anyone
know what could cause this or dealt with it before?
Thank you for your time on this matter.

I may have to agree with you there. From what I saw from the dashboard indicator lights, no check light flashed. Everything is perfect, except the shake. That's what bugs me. It'll either be a steal or a lemon and being a single dad, I can't afford a lemon. lol.

For the I6 engine, mis-fires are usually an easy fix for this puppy. As far as the shake while idling, probably going to be the motor mounts, pretty common even if they "look" ok, they've shrunk down far enough to cause violent shaking. Use AC Delco brand if you do replace them. If it lopes in idle, could be as easy as cleaning your throttle body with the battery disconnected, very common too. If the price is right, I'd buy it, the I6 engine is very good.
