my chevy silverado 2014 back fired or a loud bang when i started it this morning, why is that?

Is the check engine light on?

Was the bang under the hood or underneath the truck?

the engine light is not on after it is running and i think it happened again and its from underneath

Sounds then like fuel is getting leaking threw to the exhaust. Should do a fuel bleed down test to see if the injectors are leaking. Fuel pressure should not drop more than 5 lbs. in three minutes.

okay I'll try and watch fo rthat fuel pressure, to see if it drops 5 lbs in three minutes, right now i have it in a garage, it is minus -40 where I'm from, and thought that was why that happened, it happened again like two yrs ago, that back fire sound from the muffler

it could be, the computer is going to tell the injectors to push all the fuel it can, I'd have to say at -40° anything can happen. Good thing you have a garage.

i will update about it after about the truck, its not my personal garage, its where the ice roads ppl work and work on their equipment, my man works there so he went to go put it in the garage lastnite, will check on it today prolly not til afternoon though.

it works good now, just needed to be thawed from the cold i guess, runs smoothly like brand new again, didn't have to do anything!! So i assumed it's the -40's - -50's why it goes like that, just like spark plugs on skidoos when you don't heat up your skidoo for awhile before taking off
