That all depends on the oil you put in, full synthetic can last up to 10000 miles conventional oil breaks down after about 3000

In other words if you have conventional oil..yes you can damage your engine, it is organic and only lasts so long, synthetic oil doesn't break down the same way and you can drive longer with it, think of oil for your car as blood for you, you need it to live

longer oil change periods shorten the engine life; more wear.

Yes but the Malibu calls for dexos which is synthetic and will go up to 10,000 however your car will tell you when it’s time they are smart enough for that these days forget the sticker cause it still says 3000 but Chevy told me to listen to my car.

However I do see people asking if you can switch to regular and change oil more often the answer is no cause dexos is what it needs anything else will void any warranty you may have left.
