How can I get my key out the ignition

Asked by Tluv48az Mar 13, 2018 at 10:27 AM about the 2004 GMC Envoy 4 Dr SLT SUV

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car has been running fine, but I came out to go
to work, I pressed my unarmed button on the keys
and nothing happened, so I went to open my car
door and the car was already unlocked then I put
the key in to start it and I have no power at all only
the service engine soon light, but there's no sound
more and clicks at all when I turned the ignition
switch. And nothing works manually neither.

Not at all. It's acting as though is in security mode where it has locked my key in the ignition I just Googled it I look around the steering call him to see if there's some type of release which but there's nothing my key is locked in the ignition and it's too early in the morning for me to call my service department where I will take my car for service the only response I get when I turn the key is service engine soon but when I put my phone charger in the cigarette lighter power is in the truck because it lights up also the light on my stereo where I take the face off the light is blinking on that so there is power in the truck is not the battery the car is in security mode for some reason the vehicle was already unlocked when I got to it because my alarm would not work to unlock the door and I tried to lock or unlock or roll the windows down on the car and nothing is working manually not even the unlock button everything is unlocked and open and it locked my keys in

I am very much afraid that under the circumstances you describe there is no other alternative but to have the vehicle towed to the service shop. Messing with it can result in more damage and more $$$$.

The battery in my remote was dead but I had to call a tow so my mechanic can reset the alarm system because it's still in anti-theft mode.

Well, glad you are on your way to be able to drive your car.

If you did not get your key out yet, look under the plastic steering wheel column. You'll either see a hole, or an indentation where a hole was going to be. There is your release method. If it's not drilled out already, carefully drill it out.
