Tell people that the warranty is transferable but the car is not certified. Since you have put miles on the car it would have to go through the inspection process again to be certified again. Only dealers can do this - sorry.

Interesting question...I would explain in the narrative.

Thank you for your participation F_O_R, but you should perhaps do some research before posting uninformed statements. Pending certain requirements, the BMW CPO is transferable for a $200 fee and does NOT require dealer inspection. This fact was never in question... http://cpo.bmwusa.com/Content/docs/BMWCPOLimitedWarrantyTransferApplication.pdf Thanks for your informed input @Tom.

Sorry but without another inspection it is really not "certified". Your car has sustained wear and tear in the ensuing miles so the past inspection is irrelevant. Paying the fee changes nothing which anyone should understand.

Thank you! But it must get old being wrong... Please review the information I copied from the BMW website. Also, please note that NO further inspection is required for a vehicle that has already been Certified and remains within the mileage / age requirements. BMW Certified Pre-Owned Limited Warranty Transfer Application ($200 fee) This form and all supporting documentation (see checklist below) must be submitted via mail to: BMW of North America, LLC, Attn: CPO Department; 300 Chestnut Ridge Road, Woodcliff Lake, NJ 07677 Required: Copy of documentation evidencing change of ownership and mileage at time of sale. Required: Notarized Seller Statement (see below) affirming the vehicle is a Certified Pre- Owned vehicle. Required: $200 warranty transfer fee; check payable to BMW of North America, LLC. (Acceptable documentation includes a bill of sale and/or copy of title application) This vehicle must meet current BMW Certified Pre-Owned guidelines for transfer eligibility: -Vehicle must have originally been sold as Certified Pre-Owned on or after January 1, 2014. -At time of proposed transfer, the BMW CPO Limited Warranty must be in effect, that is, the vehicle is within age & mileage limits. -Vehicle must not have been totaled, stolen, exported from the US, or imported to the US from another country. -The BMW CPO Limited Warranty is only eligible to be transferred from private owner to private owner and transfer must be requested by the Buyer of the CPO vehicle. Dealership participation is excluded. -Transfer application must be submitted by the Certified Pre-Owned Buyer within 60 days of vehicle sale.

As I said the warranty is transferable but the inspection was in the PAST. For a few hundred dollars you can buy a degree in nuclear physics which means as much as a $200 virtual "certification". Glad you pointed out that a BMW "certification" on private sales is BS!

You have actually proved my point that I have made elsewhere that certification is really just a warranty that you pay for. That BMW is willing to cheapen their name by transferring the certification for a fee is sad but reinforces my point that this is just about warranties, not actual inspections.
