Catalyst and O2 sensor not ready

Asked by Ddengr Dec 15, 2016 at 07:06 PM about the 2014 RAM 1500 Laramie Crew Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2014 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4.
I took my truck to one of this express inspection
locations and they told me the Catalyst and O2
sensors were "not ready", so it failed.

They also said that the battery may have been
disconnected st some point causing this.
Around 2 months ago I had trouble starting and
running the truck so I took it to the dealer and one
of the many costs incurred included a new battery.

Is there something to be done to re-enable these
sensors after a battery pull?

When battery is disconnected, computer has to scan all the sensors again and it means it hasn't finished scanning, drive it on freeway for 100 miles and it should complete the scanning, at that point, you will get a code if something is wrong if not, it should pass smog
