2014 Chrysler Town & Country Battery light

Asked by Apr 18, 2017 at 11:59 AM about the 2014 Chrysler Town & Country Touring-L FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My battery light has been on for a few days. I had it checked by a mechanic who noticed the black negative cable wasnt tightened on to the battery. He tightened and checked the red cable. Battery light was off for day and came back on and stayed on. I had the Battery (purchased in 2015, so its not the original), Charge & Alternator tested at a local auto store. All passed and are good except the charge was low. Took the van into dealership for an oil change, they confirmed that alternator & battery are good and charged the battery fully. Light than beeped and came, again. I went straight to another auto store to get the battery checked, hoping it was not a good enough charge. However, the charge, battery and alternator where checked 3 times by the helpful employee. All passed. Car starts normally as it did before the light turned on, it runs the same but I'm afraid to turn the DVD player, radio or headlights on. Other than the light being on, nothing it running differently. Any ideas of what this could be? Maybe the cables are bad?

The charging system on this one is computer controlled, has anyone bothered with checking the codes? Earlier Chrysler systems had some problems with the main processor failing and shutting off the alternator, but I think they had it solved by your year of vehicle but still worth looking into, who knows might just be a faulty ground.
