Engine light = dead battery?

So my car wouldn’t turn over today and had engine
light on since just yesterday. Took it for oil change
and diagnostic test and it died. Wouldn’t start.
Locked up. They said it was the battery. anybody
else have this happen? 2012 DODGE Journey.

How old is the battery? Did it fail a load test? It may very well be a bad battery, especially if it's near the end of it's service life.
