Can I replace one tire on my 2006 Envoy with the full sized spare (same size and tread type? If so should it go on front or rear? I realize that two tires would be the best choice.

Yes you can use the vehicles spare tire, same size make and tread design.. I suggest you place it on the rear axle until you can change the opposite side But contact a tire store and confirm the information, for AWD.
