buyer asking for carfax, is it custom for seller on cargurus to pay for carfax or buyers if it is private sale?
If you want to sell the car much easier, then yes. Easier to buy it. Buyers might not want to foot the bill on every vehicle they are looking at. Maybe even possibly they would think your trying to hide something.
A serious buyer would be willing to buy a CarFax, but it would be helpful if you provided one.
As a buyer I usually buy the 5 pack of Carfax reports. It works out to about $10 per report. As a seller, I'll gladly give out the VIN to a buyer so they can get their own report. If I had a serious buyer and it could make the sale though, I'd spring for the report. Especially since you can print out the report multiple times within the next 90 days of buying the original report. So you can provide many interested buyers with the report for the cost of paper and ink. HTH. - Jim
