Ford crown Victoria rear end.

Asked by BobGander2004 Jan 13, 2020 at 01:53 AM about the 2004 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2004 ford crown Victoria 4.6L. The
numbers on the pumpkin are V026N 73 88 4B26.
What is the gear ratio I need to replace it?

Jack the rear of the car up, chock the front wheels and make sure the ground is flat. Put cat in neutral and spin the wheel one time while counting how many times the yoke spins. It helps to mark the yoke with the rearend housing. If it spins 2 3/4 times to one spin of the wheel, it’s roughly 2.75 axle ratio. Hope this helps. Or you could simply call a Ford Dealer with rearend tag numbers.

Post the last 8 numbers of the VIN and I will look it up when I get to work. I am a parts manager for a Ford dealership.
