Starter wont engage when i turn the key

When I turn the key to start the car nothing
happens but when I go underneath to look at
the starter unable to start the car by using
my tire iron on the starter connections it's
Sparks and starts right up I believe it's the
ignition switch but not 100% what's your
input

There should be power on the small wire when the key is turned to the start position, and no power there when the key is in the on position. If there is power at the small wire with the key in the start position, then there is a problem with the starter solenoid, and the starter solenoid should be replaced. If there is no power to the small wire, then its back tracking to find out why. Chances are that it would be the ignition switch at this point.
