00 Crown Vic Transmission.

Asked by Mar 13, 2017 at 07:26 PM about the 2000 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Anyone know what type of tranny the 00
interceptor uses. I bought the car from a guy and
he just replaced it with one from a junkyard. The
issue is the car takes forever to go into any gear
and the obd2 flashes for shift and torque convertor
solenoids. I'm wondering if the wrong transmission
was installed.

Mine has a 4R70W... I own a 2000. First, check the fluid level exactly as per the owner's manual. Next, ensure all electrical connectors are seated. I would unplug them and re-connect and listen/feel the "click". Road test vehicle. If problem persists, then sadly, a trip to a transmission shop is your last step; however, have them first verify that the installed transmission is compatible.
