fast idle

Very hot day-100 degrees  air conditioning on--very fast idle-why?

That's normal for all vehicles to idle faster with the A/C on. This helps provide extra power to the A/C compressor and the engine stays cooler with water pump running faster. Check your tachometer. If it's idling over 1000 rpms then maybe that's a bit too fast. Base idle is probably 650 rpms.
