Head gaskets are never fun to replace but it can be done and it's not to expensive. However a broken head gasket is a sign of intence engine stress and this car has only 75k Miles. Can you get a carfax report? I serriously think the previous owner hotroded that car to hell and back. Head gaskets should not break in only 75K miles.

I would have a diognosis done on the car, check the tranny and motor for evidence of launches/street racing. Also be sure to rate my answeres as helpful if you find them to be so.

I agree with Alex.. a blown head gasket in a car only 75k young denotes intesnse driving for extended periods.. Budget at least $2k to $3k for a new head gasket and the associated works. BUT if the head is damaged.. you might need a new motor!! I would be having the entire engine tested.. and even if that costs you 4 500 before you buy.. and then you decide NOT to buy .. its a good investment@.... WRX's are designed to be Driven Hard.......so How Hard has this car been abused???d
