Carbureted 350 chokes and dies, but will start again

Asked by Jun 28, 2017 at 01:39 AM about the 1983 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

83 T/A with a transplanted 350 starts, idles fine for
a few seconds, chokes and dies quickly, but will
start and repeat problem. Coolant Guage doesn't
budge, presumably from the swap. No rattling
under the hood or strange noises, just chokes out
and dies. Ideas?

Perhaps the choke needs adjusting.
