FORD Taurus reliable
No, never buy one used, just too many problems.
I have owned a 2003 purchase brand new 14 years ago. It has now 224100 miles. It is the most reliable vehicle I have driven for so long. It is my go to work car. I have maintenance done on it religiously. Only major problem so far the AC compressor which it was recently replaced. This is the fifth Ford Taurus I have owned. I can deny though, with as many miles I am concerned that anything could go bad now. The car so far runs perfect. It keeps my other two vehicles new and only driven for pleasure. I am so thankful to the outstanding reliability of my 2003 FORD Taurus SE that I felt compelled to share my experience.
See right there is the difference, yours is reliable cause you have maintained it, plus you bought it new, now if the person has all of the service records and then can verify that then there would be a chance of reliability, but normally that is not the case, so reliability is tossed out the window.
You are both right...maintenance is everything, in all vehicles. My 2004 Taurus SEL Duratec is the best car I have ever owned. And it walks all over cars and trucks worth twenty times as much. The newer ones are even faster.
I have a '98 DOHC since new and still runs like a top, only have to add oil to it. Starts everyday.
