Question type: Maintenance & Repair

88 s10 sport 4x4 2.8l 152000 miles.Transmission lost all gears except
park. I was driving down the road doing about 45 M.P.H and all a sudden
the truck over revved kinda like it was in nuetrual I quickly let off the gas
then tried to accelerate the truck and noticed it had no power so I steered
it to the shoulder and tried to put it in gear and it would not move in any
gear just revved up. same thing happened about 3 weeks ago I was in 4
low just rolling about 10 M.P.H and it lost all gears I changed the
transmission fluid, filter, gasket and it was fine I want to know why this
keeps happening is my trans shot? the fluid level is great. I noticed the
truck does not have alot of power when going up hills or pulling out from a
stop sign and when shifting from first to second every now and again it
shifts a little hard but other then that everything is smooth.

I would say your transmission is shot. A last ditch effort to keep it going for a while would be to add some Lucas transmission fix - no guarantees though.
