My only concern is carburated vs tbi injection. But the motor itself is the same motor. The 84 motor has the weak crank design, I'd avoid it unless you just have to do it.

Well I switched it over to fuel injection along with switching the front end cover and some of the pulleys, and now it'll turn over but won't fire. Is the firing order different? Or what could be keeping it from firing?

You switched the distributor over right? Also was there a crank sensor on the front of the motor?
