My ranger is hard to start in cold weather. The colder the harder to start. Once started no problem until it sita over night

does it have the owners manual specified oil weight where do you live if I may ask

Sounds like a high mileage low compression issue

Clean the throttle body, I had same issue and took me 5 years to figure it out. starts every time now.
