Ford Ranger battery draining and it won't turn over.

Have a 1988 Ford Ranger that has a new starter and a new
Tumblr installed But I can't get it to turn over. I have to undo
the battery cable each time I park it Because it drains the
battery. Currently I have to start it by rolling and popping the
clutch. Really need some advice
