1988 ford ranger 2.3L when cranking no fire until switch is released

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Replaced module, pickup, coil & ignition switch.  Fuel pump does not run
unless hotwired.  No fire except one time when ignition switch is released.

Have you tried running the codes? Go to: https://www.freeautomechanic.com/diagnostictroblecodes7.html That site will give all the information you will need on how to do it if you don't have the special tools. Another thing to check is the EEC power relays, I have seen these burn off the points internally, they will click but won't make contact.
