Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1987 Ford F250 Regular Cab 2w drive with 4.9 engine inline six.
I noticed the dome light was burned out so I bought a new one and install it. The light stays on when the door is closed and will not go off by itself. I have to burn my fingers to remove the bulb so that the battery stays strong.
Do I have a bad door jam switch or how do I fine the problem? Any help would be appreciated.....thanks!

One door jam switch has three wires attached but the other switch only has two wires attached. The red wire is not attached on the one with two wires. Does that mean that the loose wire is down inside the wall by the front fender and if so, how do you get it out to attach?

The switches were corroded and I cleaned them. They were not making contact and now they are working. Thanks for the feedback guys!
