88 f150 delays starting and stalls

when i go to start my 88 f150 it will delay starting but
when it does start, if i don't give it gas it will stall out. i
think it might be a starter but i don't think it's an alternator
because it doesn't stall out once it's in drive only at the
initial start

Id start by checking your fuel filter and then check the fuel pump. Du hear it prime when u turn the key?
