Inner toe-rod end

On the inner tie-rod of my 87
f150, passenger side, is a
metal bar that goes to
coupling of outer tie-rod. If it
is bent for adjustment and
not put in place properly ,
what is purpose of this?

Here is another pic, this arm was stright when I installed it. I had an alignment done and noticed this is now bent out. Why would mechanic do this?

They didn't bend tie rod, this is made on it at factory. I hope this pic shows. That was straight and between the clamp when I put it on.
