1984 F150 rear diff question

Can’t find a removable cover on the rear side of my
rear differential of my 1984 f150... anybody have
advice? Thoughts? Want to remove and swap,
pretty sure I have broken gears in there.

The rear axle differential has a cover (or should have) in the back. It is attached by, I think, 12 bolts. Maybe it is covered by dirt and grease making the bolts difficult to see.

Only two types of Ford rear ends were available on a 1984 F150, an 8.8" and 9" the 8.8 has a rear cover that bolts on. The 9" did not, the ring/pinion are bolted to the front of the axle housing. So look on the front for the bolts.
