1983 Ford F150

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My "Brake" light is lit on the dash panel. Isn't that light an indication that the parking brake is on? Or is it an indication that the vehicle is low on brake fluid. Just installed a master cylinder and wheel cylinder but the light has been on for several months. Park brake of OFF and fluid is  FULL. Does that switch for the parking go bad making the light stay ON? Looks like a dog to get at. Thanks

Yes, its for to let you know if the e-brake is pushed down some or set and it also will come on if your foot went to the floor with the brake pedal. If your brakes feel good, got the master cylinder bench bled before putting it on, then try to reset the light by tapping the brake pedal twice fast with your foot. Or on some there was a valve to pull up at the proportionate valve.
