Coolant leaks

Asked by Peter Jan 17, 2018 at 06:55 PM about the 2003 Ford Ranger 2 Dr XL Extended Cab SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The Ranger sits for day and then I get puddle of coolant on the driveway. Is it better to take to a shop and let then find the source. I can not find any coolant on top of the engine just at the bottom on the oil filter side. Thoughts and suggestions appreciated.

Did a engine clean and let the truck sit for day . Did another inspection. The top heater hose connector tee had a fine crack in it. I pulled the tee up and it was slimy coolant underneath . I could the coolant leak trail on valve cover going to the ground. Rock Auto to the rescue. Part was $24.00 ( part and shipping). Installation was easy. The auto parts store wanted $45.00 and the guy told me it is common problem with Ford the cracking of the heater tee. No coolant leak and got a cleaned engine.
