2014 GMC Sierra 1500 4x4 - Sand bags???

Asked by Bschultz13 Feb 06, 2016 at 09:20 AM about the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE Crew Cab 4WD

Question type: General

I just purchased a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 4x4.  Last
truck I owned was a 2006 Dodge Dakota, and I
always put sand bags in my bed in the winter for
extra weight. I have heard in the newer trucks you
do not have to do this, but don't know if that is true.
Do I need to put some sand bags in for traction, or
is there something in the technology that transfers
weight when necessary?

Sand bags man, the rear end is always light, you do notice a difference when it 2-wheel drive, and it helps keep the ass end from shitting out. Take it from someone who lives in the snow...

Instead of sand bags, put a nice fiberglass tonneau cover on or a topper and you would be good to go. Plus you would have a useful, stay dry type of storage for your nice truck. All my trucks I put a nice, ARE fiberglass tonneau cover and never added sandbags, and got around just fine.

Weight in the back will always help in snow as will lowering tire pressure.
