help or suggestions for chrysler newyorker 1989

Just bought this car from moreless a kid but
a lot of stuff been replaced an need a lil
more love ... The other day we took a lil bit
of drive an next thing I knew a lot of white
smoke came out exhaust an had smell of
antifreeze a lil earlier car gauges would read
hot then cool fast an every since the white
smoke came out can't really drive more than
twenty mins when cold an gauge saying hot
will come on then off so we parked it today
my man took it to work bout ten mins away
from where we live an as soon as he got to
work it shut off wouldn't start then about
thirty mins later he came home said he sit
there for few then started an came home
not sure what's going on with it could use
advise suggestions help please

There is a blown head gasket allowing coolant into the cylinders thus burning out the exhaust. Head or heads need to come off and checked for cracks, warp-page, gaskets replaced.

So even though it's not doing it now with the smoke it's most likly that ? If not able to get fixed would it be ok to drive on or no if so how much if any drivin

Well you have the overheating possibility. Probably not going to be able to travel far with the vehicle.
