1984 Lincoln Towncar remove/replace exterior door handle and keypad

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Ive got an 84 TC Sign, and unfortunately the driver side door handle will not open. The
handle itself isnt stuck, it moves like normal (pulls a bit on the right tho) but instead of it
clicking and opening the mechanism it slips. It really feels as tho its simply off track or latch
or something.

My second problem i want to fix while im taking the door panel off is the keyless entry
keypad. The car is an old Oregon vehicle, and that means a LOT of rain. The keypad is
worn, unresponsive, and with buttons missing. Ive pulled a good looking one from a yard not
to long ago, plugged it into mine, (has the same plug thankfully) and evrything worked as it
should. So the question is how do i remove the keypad ITSELF for replacment?

It's likely that your door handle is broken. Common concern. Sorry. I could not find any info about replacing the keypad. I can't imagine that it's very difficult to figure out while you have the door panel off to replace the door handle.
