How Do You Repair Front Seat Back Lock That Does Not Lock, 86 Eldorado

Asked by Apr 18, 2017 at 05:32 PM about the 1986 Cadillac Eldorado Coupe FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

With the door(s) open the seat backs will not lock. Both doors have to be closed for the seat backs to lock. If they're not locking at all, there's a solenoid inside of each seat back that will probably need to be replaced. The other possibly is the circuit is shorted to ground and keeping the solenoids energized all the time. But if that were the case it would kill your battery. HTH. -Jim
