Check for loose bolts on the receiver end...and on the latch end too~ if they can be loosened and adjusted give 'em a tad more slack 1/8" more would do it~

Its most likely that the latch is damaged, if you cant replace the latch, try closing the truck with your hand at the lock

I had a issue with a short in the wiring harness that is in the top back door hatch lid of the 2004 ford focus wagon . It caused the hatch door release to stay open the door would not stay shut i had to use a rubber bungee from the inside to keep the door closed until figured the problem out and fixed it .
