Have you tried replacing your Transmission Speed Sensor? http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/shop_years/ford-focus-speed- sensor-2003.html

I had the local parts shop run their diagnostic test- came back as a fuse/sensor, accessed through the transmission fluid pan. Ordered it from Ford, climbed under and did it all myself. Most auto parts stores will run the diagnostic widget for you for free.
