Trans slipping in first gear

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Slips in first gear but I put the shifter in
low it shifts fine

Sounds like the overrun sprag is bad in rear of transmission. When you put it in low, it applies the low/reverse band. In normal shifting, the sprag locks/holds for first gear.
