I have a 1989 Volvo 240. Would a 244 fuel pump work in
my car

The short answer is yes. However, there are TWO fuel pumps in the 240, and one is inside the tank. This is actually the one that dies, and requires a special wrench to open the tank, available at ipdusa.com. The pump in the tank is also available from them, as well. The old fuel pumps tended to have a plastic mesh screening that eventually kinda decays, and then the pump itself dies. I accidentally dropped the pump into the tank, and was high for a week after trying to recover from all the gas fumes!
