Surging in my 2013 nissan versa sl

Asked by Rizzle83 May 27, 2016 at 08:19 AM about the 2013 Nissan Versa 1.6 SL

Question type: General

So i just hit 40,000 miles on my 2013 nissan versa
with pure drive. Check engine lighr came on after i
came to a stop then pressed the gas pedal to
accelerate like normal. The car surges never has
happened. A few days later the check engine light
goes off but the surging is getting worse and more
frequent. Is this normal or is my car a money oit
now. Any suggestions would be great to help fix
this problem.

Run it by the dealership as it has a 5 year 60,000 mile power-train warranty. Most likely this repair will be covered under warranty.

YES, have it scanned for errors, but, it sounds like it could a bad MAF (Mass Air Flow Sensor). Other cars have experienced this problem,. See this website and read thru the various threads,. http://repairpal.com/failed-mass-air-flow-sensor-may-cause- driveability-issues-040

Our 2013 Nissan Versa had the same problem. Surging when accelerating. It only had 40,000 miles on it. Engine light didn't go on. But the prob. Was getting worse and worse. Took it back to dealer and it took them 1 week to find the prob. It was the ABS braking system. Without the warranty we purchased it would have been $2,200.to fix.

To all those people saying take it to dealership and have it looked at I say DUH!!!!! When someone is online asking advise they are trying to avoid the costly dealership and want real helpful comments or someones advise who has gone through the same problems. Not! To be told take it to a dealer. What the heck is that>? It is obvious to go have it looked at, but they charge just to find the problems so seeking advise on a problem is a legitimate way to resolve an issue. Not just HEY TAKE IT TO A DEALER !!?Lol wow

Taking it to the dealership when it is still under factory warranty is the only smart thing to do.
