Where is the cam shaft sensor in 2003 ZX2

Asked by Derek May 23, 2012 at 12:32 PM about the 2003 Ford Escort ZX2

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I had a shop run a diagnostic tool on my car yesterday and found out I have a cam shaft sensor going bad.  Where is the cam shaft sensor located in a 2003 Ford ZX2 and what should it look like?  To replace it, I just need to unbolt it and then bolt on a new one correct?

I dont know about the car models but if it is a distributed engine it is below the CDi pick up coil in the distributor . If distributorless it is located near the cam shaft , it looks like a cylinder with a little hole in the middle

It is located on the front of the cylinder head near the ignition coil pack. Yes, replacing is a remove old and install new operation. Good Luck!
