Hard to start
When could car tries to start, just takes a
while to get it running, after it's going it
doesn't run to bad, what could cause this?
There could be a sensor misread, lower than normal fuel pressure, weak coil output, base timing could have slipped slightly. How’s the compression, injectors been cleaned, tuned up recently?
Check for fault codes in the PCM. If there are any codes , they should be cleared.
I had just about a week ago put new plugs in it and it ran better than it ever had, stopped sputtering when getting in the trottle, now right back to it's old self lol
Then I suggest you do the old Ford wiggle test with the engine running but be careful of moving parts, when they get older wiring can breakdown causing high resistance and that can throw off sensor readings, wiggling the harnesses can make a temporary connection and it will run better for a time.
Oh and this also the same 1988 Thunderbird that keeps dying Everytime you turn left it just dyes and I have to get it to level ground before it will crank back up, that is normally when it has about 3 gallons of gas in it lol, what would be causing that?
Three gallons is not enough to fully cover the fuel pump and if you have any minor leaks in the pickup system it’s sucking more air than fuel and that can lean it way out. Hey it’s old there could be a thousand and one things wrong or gradually decaying.
