Sounds like the spring in the tach is very weak. could be repaired but I would check junk yards first as it is 12 years old.

@oldtimer37 I've tried looking up the tach spring, cant seem to find this part. What exactly is it for?

You can't just buy a spring. You will need to buy a new tach unless you can get yours rebuilt. Don't know where you are but in large cities there are people who rebuild spedos, gauges and tachs

My son has a 2003 Ford Escape with a V6 and sometimes for no reason at all it will lose all of the instrument gauges briefly while he is driving and then come back on in an instant with no loss of power. There have been times he called me because his car would turn over but not start, When I get there I've checked it with my OBD II reader and no codes would show up. Then after trying to start it several times with no luck, it just fires right back up for no apparent reason. The battery, alternator, are new and working fine. I've checked the cable connections and I'm still at a loss as to why this keeps doing this, I'ts been like this for over a year. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks. 4 Answers

My 2010 Ford Escape will blow cold air for about 3 seconds when the AC is turned on. I checked the compressor and the clutch will engage for those first couple seconds and then stop completely. I thought it might be low on freon, but when I went to check the low pressure, I got a low pressure reading of 100, which is way too high. My guess is the relay is done or maybe the compressor.
