Engine/electrical issues

Asked by Jevon Oct 21, 2017 at 08:22 AM about the 2003 Ford Escape XLS FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a '03 Ford Escape and it has sat for
a few days and the weather here has
recently gotten cold and on October 19
which is a Thursday I went out to crank it
and it didn't want to crank the first time so
I tried it again and this time it cranked up.
The next day it cranked up fine but when I
was driving home my car and everything in
it (electrical wise) just shut off on me. It
didn't not want to crank back up and I tried
twice and still nothing. So I waited 5-10
minutes and it finally cracked back up
again and I was able to make it home. Can
anyone tell me what's wrong with it or at
least where to start?

My first guess is the key tumbler my have a bad contact in "RUN" ,,do the lights come back on in ACC ?

Then it's probably the switch contacts ... Your best bet is to have a Locksmith change the switch simply because your new key needs to be programed ,,,
