86 Bronco II intermittent problem with pump kicking on when starting

Asked by Sep 13, 2017 at 08:48 PM about the 1986 Ford Bronco Eddie Bauer 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My Bronco will die while driving and won't start for a while
(minutes to hours). When it won't start, don't hear the
relay on key on. Then out of nowhere will start. Changed
pump and relay and no dice. Just put a different computer
in it hoping that fixes it but if not what else could it be?
Inertia switch? Ignition switch behind the manifold?

Check the ignition switch, not the key and tumblers, it's located down on the steering column, I have seen these move slightly out of position and cause a no start, even a no crank problems before, sometimes they just wear out and I have even seen them start coming apart. HTH
