1986 Ford Bronco 5.0 EFI 4x4

My husband and I need help figuring out what is wrong with our Bronco.  You can start it up and it will run for awhile then die.  Afterwards you have to wait anywhere between a few minutes to half an hour before it will start again and it will run and die again.  You can smell gas but it's as if the vehicle is starving for it.  We have already replaced the ignition module, fuel pumps and relays, coil, and other parts.  Nothing seems to be working.  We have discovered that the computer is getting hot on the top half and staying cold on the bottom half.  Please help because this is one beast we can't seem to figure out.  Thanks

In the distributor is a pick up module. Cheap part but sound just like a bad one, some distributors have to be removed to replace one.
