What is the difference between crankshaft sensor and camshaft sensor in '95 Dodge Intrepid

Asked by Melissa Aug 28, 2013 at 06:55 PM about the 1995 Dodge Intrepid ES FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car (95 dodge intrepid) stalls after running for 10 minutes.  After 30-45 min it will start
up again.  Otherwise runs fine, all gauges appear to be working fine.  It does not overheat,
dont run long enough to turn on fan, but water is not running through engine, but no
leakage anywhere.

...well by definition the crank turns twice as fast as the camshaft to make all four strokes of the four stroke engine this example has a DOHC configuration....note the Small crank sprocket vs. the cam sprockets x 2~

The cam sensor basically syncronizes the fuel injection with the engine. The crank sensor tell the pcm when to fire the coil.
