it could potentially cause an issue in the engine (i dont know much about the specific car or engine) but if its a higher compression engine it may need 92 octane as the octane rating determines the fuels resistance to detonating. so without 92 octane the car my knock or ping

id like to hear how that mustangs engine runs on 87 octane. not all engines are designed to run on 87 octane, if its a high performance engine it prolly requires midrange atleast to keep from detonating

what does it say right by the gas cap? its typically right there for what you need to use. whatever it says to use is what he should use. thats it. question answered.

all stock neons will run fine on 87 unless the engine was rebuilt with higher compression or you have the mopar performance engine calibration you don't need to use premium

Speaking from experience, it will get better mpg's (38-40 hwy) while also having better performance if you use 93. So it's definitely worth the price increase. Not that 87 is bad for it, but it will definitely Last longer on 93.
